January 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Looking for inner strength to deal with everyday troubles? Turn to the essential
oil cedarwood to help you start feeling collected and in charge of your life on a
daily basis. If you have been feeling anxious or nervous lately, you would most
likely benefit from the qualities this oil can bring to you.

This oil can help to calm, stabilize, harmonize, comfort, and even ground you.
Just burning this scent in your home can help ease your mind after a long day of
work. It has even been said that cedarwood was used in ancient Egypt to help
increase fertility and abundance.

July 20th, 2007 · 3 Comments

Here are some more excellent ways to enjoy and use Aromatherapy around your home.

  1.  Are mice a problem? Place several drops of Peppermint oil on cotton balls and place them at problem locations.
  2. The bathroom is easily scented by placing oil-scented cotton balls in inconspicuous places or sprinkle oils directly onto silk or dried flower arrangements or wreaths.
  3. Home-made sachets are more fragrant when essential oils are blended with flowers and herbs.
  4. An essential oil dropped on a radiator, scent ring, or light bulb will not only fill the room with wonderful fragrance but also will set a mood such as calming or uplifting. Don’t put essential oil in the socket.
  5. Sell your home? Fragrance sells! Fill the kitchen area with the aroma of spiced oils. Geranium oil sprinkled throughout the home creates a warm, cheerful and inviting mood.
  6. Add essential oil to paper mache, the result is the creation of a lovely aromatic art piece.
  7. Cockroaches hate the smell of peppermint oil. Wipe bench tops in the kitchen with a wet sponge with a few drops of peppermint.
  8. When moving into a new home, first use a water spray containing your favourite essential oils and change the odorous environment to your own. Do this for several days until it begins to feel like your space.
  9. 1 drop of Lemon essential oil on a soft cloth with polish copper with a gentle buffing.
  10. When washing out the fridge, freezer, or oven – add 1 drop of Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Bergamot, Mandarin or Orange essential oils to the final rinse water.
  11. A blend of Geranium, Lavender and Bergamot alleviate anxiety and depression. Use in a room diffuser or 5-10 drops in the bath.

Enjoy until next time

Aromatherapy Around the Home part 1

July 19th, 2007 · No Comments

Here are some excellent ways to use Aromatherapy around the Home.

I am also working on a list of ways to use Aromatherapy in the different rooms of your Home (kitchen, bedroom, lounge room, bathroom etc etc) - this will be coming soon.  Below are some basic simple things that you can do to use Aromatherapy in your Everyday life.

  1. The scent-sational smelling towel, sheets, clothes, etc. place a few drops of your favourite essential oils onto a small piece of terry cloth and toss into the clothes dryer while drying. Add 5 drops of essential oils to ¼ cup fabric softener or water and place in the centre cup of the wash.
  2. A few drops of your favourite oil or blend in the rinse water of your hand-washables makes for pleasant results.
  3. Potpourri which has lost its scent can be revived by adding a few drops of essential oil.
  4. Add a few drops of essential oil to water in a spray bottle and use as an air freshener.
  5. Add a few drops of essential oil to a pan of water and simmer on stove or in potpourri pot.
  6. To enjoy a scented candle, place a drop or two of oil into the hot melted was as the candle burns.
  7. To dispel household cooking odours, add a few drops of Clove oil to a simmering pan.
  8. Add 10 drops of essential oil to a box of cornstarch or baking soda, mix very well, let set for a day or two and then sprinkle over the carpets in your home. Let set for an hour or more, then vacuum.
  9. Put a few drops of your favourite oil on a cotton ball and place it in your vacuum cleaner bag. Lemon and Pine are nice. Rose Geranium helps with doggy odour.
  10. To fragrance your kitchen cabinets and drawers, place a food scent dabbed on a cotton ball in an inconspicuous corner.

Enjoy the scents - I certainly know my nose and body does.
